J:
Hello all, here’s an update for you…
I guess first and foremost is the good news that I now have permanent employment. I was successful in what is called a “competition” where I have been working. I had to go through the whole CV/interview process, but now I have my feet under the table and they’ll never get rid of me. I’ve been promised some more stimulating work too, and now I will get time off, health benefits (for the whole family) and other things. This is obviously helpful in our house-hunting process, about which we hope to have more news shortly.
The kids are off school now, until September 8th. It’s a loooooong summer here. They all had excellent reports from their teachers.
Over the last weekend we did a few things with the kids that I think it is fair to say would have been nearly impossible in England. On Saturday morning we went in service and then put the kids down for naps. After naps we went over to the Josephs’ house (a family in the congregation) where there was a POOL PARTY and barbecue! The Josephs have their own inground pool complete with diving board, and there were around 12 kids in there. We had a fantastic afternoon and evening in blazing sunshine with some brilliant friends. The kids stayed in the pool until they were shattered!
On Sunday evening, after our meeting, we all went to Marineland (www.marineland.ca) which is an amusement park in Niagara Falls. For less than the arm and leg we would pay in England we got the whole family in (Johnnie and George go free) and for $5 each more we upgraded to season tickets. Once inside there is a variety of rides, amusements, and sea creatures to keep everyone occupied. There is a big and long steel rollercoaster which, amazingly, we convinced the girls to try. Now that we can go again for free we plan to go there when I finish work for the day (I have to work pretty late though – sometimes I don’t leave the office until 4.15 pm) and have a picnic and do a few rides. Again the kids enjoyed themselves and we actually managed to tire them out!
So things are going fairly well, and going in the right direction. Stay tuned because some cool stuff is bubbling away…

Hi Jason
Fantastic news on the job front. We knew it would work out for you. Jehovah is surely blessing you all.
Life over there sounds fantastic for you, Rebecca and the kids. It would be lovely to do the same kind of thing with Deniro. It sounds amaaaaazing!
The holidays are really long aren’t they. Could we cope in England if our kids were on leave from school for that amount of time? I doubt it very much.
We start our CO’s visit with Gary & LIz this evening. Really looking forward to their visit.
Give my love to the family.
Lots of love
Verlilne & Deniro xx

Hi Jason,
Great news about the job! It’s not fair though that you have to work late until 4:15pm lol It’s great that your job allows you to have so much time with the children especially as they are now on school holidays.
Marineland sounds great fun for all the family and very reasonable as well, you’ll have a lot of fun memories there I’m sure.
Jehovah’s blessing on your bubbling plans.
Lots of love,
Esme x
