Flowers from Rena.
R:
We had our 15th Wedding Anniversary last week. What an achievement, 15 years married to me! We ended up celebrating 3 times, although not much of it was planned. We have had so many other issues to think about, and other concerns taking up our time and planning ability that we certainly weren’t planning on any spectacular celebration. In addition, the reality of celebrating without my family was not a welcome one. I guess events like this will always be bitter-sweet for me from now on.
Our friend Rena came and babysat for us on Thursday, and we went out for dinner. We have yet to find our favourite restaurant of course (a little difficult when you don’t get out for dinner much!) but I took Jason to Spicy Thai, which is a very little, quiet restaurant that I had been to once before with Shiela). He was very impressed, and we had a really nice evening. Rena survived, and had even put all the kids to bed by the time we got home!
On Friday evening, another friend, Rebecca (Auntie Becca) took all the kids off my hands for the evening. With Shiela’s help they kept them occupied and out of trouble while Jason and I had yet another evening alone, this time at home. By the time we had enjoyed a bottle of champagne, chatted, and provided free entertainment to our neighbours who were in their garden by dancing in the front room…..they all came home again. Rebecca had taken them to the photography studio where she works and produced a lovely range of photos of them all. She must be very good at her job, because as you know, getting Johnnie to sit still for more than two seconds is quite a challenge! They had all bought little presents for Jason and I too, I was quite overcome when they all returned, so excited to present all these things to us, it was lovely. We have some very nice friends. It doesn’t stop me missing my old ones in England, but it does help a little.
And so to Saturday; John and Diane had bought us a pair of tickets to our play of choice at the annual Shaw Festival. This is quite a famous Festival that runs from May until November in the nearby town of Niagara-on-the-Lake. This very pretty town is my little taste of England. It is small and quaint, and probably the closest you will get to an English-looking town here. It attracts many visitors, especially Americans, who like it because it is old. (It also has some very nice, very expensive Women’s boutiques!) Anyway, here is hosted the famous Shaw Festival which boasts world class productions of plays written within the lifetime of George Bernard Shaw, and of course featuring plays written by Shaw himself.
We went to see a play called Born Yesterday. Neither of us had visited the Festival before, so we didn’t know what to expect. We were very impressed. The Theatre is very nice, surrounded by beautiful terraces and gardens. We enjoyed lunch underneath a spectacular wisteria that crowns the main terrace. The play itself was extremely enjoyable, and not that we are expert critics, but it seemed to be very well produced and presented. We enjoyed it very much. Followed by a barbecue with the rest of the family at John and Diane’s.
So you will see we had quite a busy weekend in the end. I appreciated very much the attention our friends gave. I felt happy celebrating, but sad to do it all the way over here….so different to every other anniversary we have celebrated up to now.
Other news: We have just started looking for a house. Having not sold The Crescent, we are limited, but we are hoping to be able to buy something with enough room for us all. We are feeling keenly the need to have our own place, and embark on the next step of trying to be established, so we ask for Jehovah’s blessing on this. We’ll keep you posted.
Sorry for the sombre tone, and dull writing style, I’m tired!

Hi my darlings,
We were aching to send you our greeting for your anniversary and my very poor attempt (or at least Josh’s) of the recording that was sent to you of your three Croydon Girls. I must admit we certainly had a chuckle about it and hoped that you detected it whilst listening to it.
But you were both on our minds and as for me, my thoughts were of your wonderful cheese & wine parties which generally are around this time of the year ~ oh the “good ole days”.
How lovely to have been surrounded by thoughtful friends and family to allow you to enjoy such a wonderful anniversary.
It was so wonderful to receive Ja’s email regarding Josh, it really meant alot to me and it was lovely news to hear that you were looking for a home of your own and that your little Daisy Doodles is now an unbaptised publisher ~ what joy that is.
Take care my darlings and will email soon.
Love you all. Chrissie Nicks. X

Hi Rebecca
I send you a belated Happy Anniversary. So glad you were able to spend some quality time with Jason, courtesy of some really good friends. It was a lovely gift from Jason’s parents. It sounds like the kind of place we’d all enjoy.
Do we get to see any of the pics produced by the children?
Just reading Christine’s email and note that Daisy is now an unbaptised publisher. please give her a big hug from me.
Hope everything goes well in pursuit of a new home.
Have Susannah & Adrian settled well into their new home?
Give my love to Jason and the children.
Love Verline xx

Hi Beccs
So lovely to hear all your new news, it seems that things are finally turning the corner for you all.
I loved hearing about your anniversay. 15 years and still strong, you described everthing so beautifully, you made it possible for us all to share this special time with you.
I have a wondefull image of you and Jason dancing in the front room, well done keep it up, you both have so much to celebrate.
I know this has been a big step for you all, but as long as you are all together, and doing well spiritually, that is the most important thing. The gift you are giving your children is something they will never forget. All chindren need time with their parents and family worship is a gift that Jehivah has given to us. So I am glad to hear you are all enjoying these occasions.
I know so many people in the truth whos children have been lost to the this world, so my heart rejoices at the sacrifice you have made for them, well done to both of you.
Good to hear Daisy’s news, another budding witness in the making, and how are Suzanna and Adrian please give her my love, I think about her often.
If you get a chance I would love to see pictures of thE children, Im sure thay have changed so much, and pictures of a canadian spring would also be nice.
Just remember we are all rooting for you and Jason, and Jehovah is aware of all you emotions and feeling and is definatly helping you to adjust to your new life.
All my love
Marva
